Vamos, kaamos!

Vamos kaamos! brings light and colour to the darkest time of the year. Kaamos is Finnish for the polar night; period of darkness north of the Arctic Circle when the sun does not rise over the horizon. In the southern parts of Finland there is no polar night, but the days are still short. For example, in Helsinki the length of the shortest day of the year is less than six hours. Finns often refer to kaamos as generally the darkest period of the year.

My oil paintings join forces with vitamin D and bright lights to get us through the darkness. The soft yet powerful abstract landscapes transport us to another world, a world filled with light and kindness. What if we decided that this dark time is wonderful for our creativity? Like a blank (or black) canvas which you can fill with anything you want? This was my starting point for the artistic expedition called Vamos, kaamos!

Vamos, kaamos! -näyttely tuo valoa ja väriä vuoden pimeimpään aikaan. Jos ajattelisimmekin, että kaamosaika tuo uusia ulottuvuuksia luovuudellemme? Jos pimeys onkin kuin tyhjä kangas, joka antaa mahdollisuudet luoda juuri sellaisen ympäristön itsellemme kuin haluamme? Näistä ajatuksista lähti tutkimusmatkani kaamos kaverinani.

Näyttely on avoinna Roasbergissa 3.12.2018 – 6.1.2019 kahvilan aukioloaikoina: Ma - To 08.00 – 22.00, Pe 08.00 – 24.00, La 10.00 – 24.00 ja Su 10.00 – 22.00. Avajaisia vietetään ke 5.12. klo 17-20. Olet lämpimästi tervetullut!
